PRASNA ASTROLOGY - ASK A QUESTION IN THE ABSENCE OF A BIRTH CHART

PRASNA ASTROLOGY - ASK A QUESTION IN THE ABSENCE OF A BIRTH CHART :

Prasna is a very important part of astrology and is very useful. In some cases, only the prasna astrology is helpful. The prasna means when we reply a question based on the horoscope/chart prepared for the date and time when a querent has approached for astrological help. Generally, the prasna chart is made when the querent does not have a birth horoscope. It is very important that whenever a querent has approached for the first time, the time and date are noted. The place would be the location of astrologer. In case of a telephonic or an e-mail query the place remains as the location of the querent.

For the researchers and advance learners noting down the time of first query is helpful in timing of events and rectification of the birth charts. Even the astrological remedial measures prescribed according to the ascendant of the prasna have proved to be helpful in majority of the cases, wherever the birth details were not available.

The study of prasna is very useful:-

(i) When the querent or the person about whom the prasna is being made does not have a birth chart;
(ii) To ascertain the ascendant when the ascendant is either in the ending degrees or in the beginning of a sign. In such cases, the ascendant rising in the prasna generally matches with the ascendant of the birth chart. The correctness of the ascendant of the birth chart is very important to figure out the true functional nature of planets in a particular nativity. Not only the functional nature of planets plays a key role in the analysis of a chart but also it is necessary for prescribing the astrological remedial measures;

(iii) To time return of missing persons;

(iv) To time recovery of patients;
(v) To predict recovery of stolen or misplaced items;
(vi) To predict solemnization of marriage;
(vii) To predict success of new business ventures.

The only requirement for the success of the prasna astrology is that the querent approaches the astrologer without any prior fixed appointment for the solve purpose of a query. If a telephonic call is made to fix up the appointment, then the time of the telephone call is noted for the prasna while the actual meeting for the consultation may take place at the appointed time.
Sometimes, it so happens when a person is introduced to an astrologer, the former immediately puts a question. Such a question should always be replied according to the birth chart of the querent, if it is available. In case the birth chart is not available, then he/she should be asked to contact the astrologer after a week or ten days without fixing an appointment. If the astrologer is not available at the time of the approach made by the querent, then the time of the approach should be noted and should be used for preparation of a prasna chart. The prasna chart is prepared in full for identifying the strength of the planets and working out the planetary periods for timing of the events. The events are timed with the help of the operating planetary periods and the triple transit influences, both formation and separation.

Even at the cost of some repetition, the essential predictive techniques of the Systems’ Approach have been given in this book so that the case studies included in this book are properly understood by the readers without referring to the other books of the Systems’ Approach.

Prasna brings out the main question(s) of the querent based on the conjunctions, aspects, placements and the operating planetary periods. If the lord of the fifth house is afflicted, the prasna may pertain to progeny matters. If the lord of the seventh house is afflicted, the question may pertain to spouse or marital affairs or foreign visit or foreign stay. All the conjunctions, aspects, placements and the operating planetary periods are to be studied with reference to the ascendant and not treating the house pertaining to the relation about whom the question is made as an ascendant for replying the question. For example if one wants to know about the spouse then the influences on the seventh house are considered and the seventh house is not treated as the ascendant of the spouse.

IDENTIFICATION OF PRASNA INDICATIONS :

Generally, people ask for astrological help in the hour of distress. Of course, some blessed ones seek astrological help when they want to venture in to something new. How to identify prasna is the question? This is necessary to identify the correct planet/house to give proper advice. If the sub-period lord or the ensuing sub-period lord is the lord of the third house or a planet placed in the third house or a planet aspected by the lord of the third house, then the prasna may be a new venture signified by the concerned planet. If the lord of the third house is creating a close influence on the ascendant or the third house or the tenth house, the prasna may be connected with the new venture or initiative.

The prime determinants of prasna are weak planets and one or more afflictors, explained below, involved in close conjunction or aspect with other planets or the most effective points of the houses.

The following are the determinants of the prasna:

Weak Planets:

The weak planets are not in a position to protect their general significations and the significations of the houses containing their mooltrikona sign. Therefore, the native suffers because of malfunctioning of health ruled by the weak planets
.

Afflicted Planets:

Those planets which have close influence of the functional malefic planets (afflictors as mentioned above) either by conjunction or aspect are treated as afflicted planets. The close influence of the lord of the sixth house and Rahu causes diseases which may respond to the symptomatic treatment. The close influence of the functional malefic planets ruling the eighth and twelfth houses and the planet Ketu gives chronic diseases. If the afflicted planet is weak and badly placed, the native suffers from fatal diseases and may have to undergo surgery, etc.

Planetary Periods:

The sub-periods of the afflicting or afflicted planets as mentioned above and the sub-periods of the planets placed in the sixth house and other malefic houses. These sub-periods give rise to the trends which continue throughout the sub-periods and the trends can be reversed if the prime determinants are strong and the following sub-periods are of strong, well placed and unafflicted planets.

Transit Influences:

Sometimes, the illness is triggered by the close transit influence of slow moving malefic planets on the natal planets. If the natal afflicted planets are strong the symptoms of the illness ends after the transit impact is over. If the natal afflicted planets are weak and badly placed and the sub-periods of the afflictors are in progress then the illness turns into chronic illness. TIME OF SURFACING

The problems of ill health start surfacing during the sub-periods of the following:

1. the lord of the ascendant; or

2. the lord of the sixth house; or
3. the planets placed in the sixth house; or
4. the planet causing affliction; or
5. the planet afflicted; or
6. the malefic transit influence on the weak natal positions.

If a planet is afflicted, the following aspects will be touched:-

1. General significations of the planet;
2. The significations of the house containing mooltrikona sign of the afflicted planet.
3. The significations of the house where the afflicted planet is placed.

These are the golden principle which provides us the key to identify the prasna and suggesting possible remedies.

Biorhythms :

 Biorhythms :

Just about every one particular for no obvious cause, goes via durations of superior sort, good self-control and intervals when the brain is specially crystal clear. Conversely, there are also durations when one is unable to concentrate and the brain is confused. The factors for these fluctuations continue to be mysterious. It is achievable that the explanation lies in the Biorhythmic Cycle. Biorhythms had been found at the beginning of the century by Swoboda, an Austrian psychologist, and Fliess, a German doctor. Their theories have been the matter of substantially research and, these days, the software stage has been arrived at, largely in the U.S.A. Their concept states that human activity goes by way of regular higher and low intervals. Based mostly on experiments and statistical information, the pursuing durations of these durations have been established:

- 23-Day Cycle For Physical Strength And Endurance,
- 28-Day Cycle For Emotional Exercise,
- 33-Day Cycle For Intellectual Activity.

At first, there had been only three known biorhythms - Physical, Emotional and Intellectual. The Intuitional rhythm was found out in current decades and is deemed to be a lot less vital. It's cycle is 38 days extended.

Intuitional cycle influences unconscious perception, hunches, instincts and 'sixth sense'. On reduced and specially important days it could be complicated to do perform linked with artwork or other jobs that demand ton of creativeness and instinct.
Reading a Biorhythms Study

Just about every picture on the screen reveals 3 separate curves, marked P, for Physical rhythm, E for Emotional rhythm and I, for Intellectual rhythm. Based on the day of the month, the curves are both previously mentioned or under the horizontal axis, which represents the suggest degree. The optimistic stage of every curve is over the axis and the recovery phase is below the axis. Biorhythms could for that reason be applied to forecast whether or not one particular will be in great or mediocre type, on a given date.

Consistency of Two Persons :

By comparison of Biorhythms of two persons you can decide degree of their consistency. If all three curves are in the identical phase, that is for each people they are increasing and falling more or less simultaneously, then there is a huge likelihood that these individuals are compatible and can be a excellent partners. If phases of curves are almost opposite, then there is a large probability that their relations could be in a disharmony.

For additional thorough Interpretation :

Advocates of Biorhythm concept do not only create calendars for the high and lower intervals of our vitality, they also claim to be able to forecast important dates upon which the personal, in a state of minimum resistance, will be subjected to far more pitfalls than normally. These dates do not correspond to the lowest factors on the curves, as would look logical, but to the factors at which the curves intersect the axis, i.e. the stage improvements. Certainly, when only a single curve intersects the axis, which happens often and usually, then the chance on that day is not really excellent. Nevertheless, if two curves transform phase simultaneously, then unique treatment need to be taken. This is, briefly, the concept of those who believe that in Biorhythms, backed up by stats.

Secondary Biorhythms :

The Secondary Biorhythmic cycles - Passion, Wisdom and Mastery - are derived from interactions of Main Biorhythmic cycles - Physical, Emotional and Intellectual.
Therefore, Enthusiasm is a combo of Physical and Emotional cycles. When Passion cycle is high, your feelings and feelings are incredibly sensitive, especially enjoy, sexual desire, lust, joy, or hatred, anger. This cycle influences enthusiasm, stimulus, and impulsion. From Enthusiasm comes the capability to act.

Wisdom is made by interference between Emotional and Bodily cycles. Great level of this cycle signifies smart judgement, better ability of utilizing knowledge and experience with prevalent feeling and insight. From this cycle arrives the skill to discern internal qualities and relationships and knowing of what is right. Wisdom helps to pick the proper signifies for the finest ends.
Mastery arrives from interaction involving Intellectual and Emotional cycles.Getting large, this cycle enhances capability to employ abilities, understanding and expertise in much more efficient way. It enables to finish tasks quicker and with much better success.

I-Ching Biorhythms :

Aesthetic, Self-Awareness and Spiritual biorhythms are centered on the I-Ching (also named E-book of Alterations), one particular of essential books of Confucianism, that was written more than 3000 several years ago in China. It talks about the cycles of change including these biorhythms. It is 1 of the oldest surviving guides in the earth, and 1 of the oldest types of divination.

Aesthetic cycle is 43 days lengthy and describes interest in the stunning and the harmonious, Self-Awareness - 48 days, it expresses ability to percept private personality and individuality, and Spiritual - 53 days, describes inner stability and calm mindset.

What are Biorhythms?

What are Biorhythms?

Biorhythms are not easily generalized. Everyone has gone from having a great day, to   having a bad day, yet it is not a collective experience, it is a personal experience! If you observe such experiences, mood swings, physical highs and lows, you will understand your biorhythms and learn more about what makes you tick. Bio
rhythm, Astrology, Moon Phases, comp
For instance: I have a four year old daughter very easy to wake up in the mornings. However, sometimes she is extraordinarily hard to wake up, and groggy well into the morning. After I started tracking her biorhythms I realized these mornings coincide with the day her physical biorhythm cycle transitions from positive to negative (high to low). Therefore it is safe to say my daughters particular reaction to her physical biorhythm cycle shifting from positive to negative is very low physical energy in the mornings.

This is why I stated that biorhythms are hard to generalize. They are a personal life experience. Understanding your biorhythms makes it easier to live and let live, to be a better lover, a better parent, and a more compassionate human being. Understanding the biorhythms of people in your life will allow you stress-less relationships.

Biorhythms in a nut-shell. Biorhythm, Astrology, Moon Phases, compatibility, numerology

Biorhythms are inherent cycles which regulate memory, ambition, coordination, endurance, temperament, emotions, and much more. We each have three fundamental biorhythm cycles. Each biorhythm cycle has a particular function, and a particular life cycle.

Our physical biorhythm cycle completes one life cycle in 23 days. Our emotional biorhythm cycle lasts 28 days, and our intellectual biorhythm cycle lasts 33 days. At mid point and end point in each cycle, they sharply move back to zero point and change polarity. The day a cycle changes polarity is called a transition day (also called a critical day, or caution day).

Transition days are the days when we may feel a little off, or have a downright~~ bad day. A double transition day is when two of your cycles transition on the same day. This day may be difficult. A triple transition day is when three of your cycles transition on the same day. Triple transition days are rare, occurring once every 7-8 years.

What do biorhythm cycles regulate?

Physical Cycle ~~ 23 days. The physical cycle is said to be the dominant cycle in men. It regulates hand-eye coordination, strength, endurance, sex drive, stamina, initiative, metabolic rate, resistance to, and recovery from illness. Surgery should be avoided on physical transition days and during negative physical cycles.

Emotional Cycle ~~ 28 days. The emotional cycle is considered the dominant cycle in women. It regulates emotions, feelings, mood, sensitivity, sensation, sexuality, fantasy, temperament, nerves, reactions, affections and creativity.

Intellectual Cycle ~~ 33 days. The intellectual cycle regulates intelligence, logic, mental reaction, alertness, sense of direction, decision-making, judgment, power of deduction, memory, and ambition.

How can understanding your biorhythms help you?

Understanding your positive biorhythm cycles may assist you in planning physical outings, sporting events, exams, surgeries, presentations, and job interviews.
Understanding your negative biorhythm cycles may help you avoid accidents, personal injuries, hurtful situations, unnecessary grief, and misfortune.

Mysteries of Twin-Birth Life Patterns Astrological Sensemaking :

Mysteries of Twin-Birth Life Patterns Astrological Sensemaking :

Twin births have always attracted the fancy of astrologers and common people, because it has been empirically observed that even though the children are born with a few minutes of difference, the life-patterns have been radically quite different. Examples galore, where one of the children has become a doctor and another a high school drop-out or one has become a businessman and another could not manage a job for him. Traditional Rasi chart will never reflect any difference in the planetary patterns including the Lagna, which will also remain same, excepting a few minutes of arc difference. As a result, it is next to impossible for anyone to decipher the charts of twins, triplets, or even quadruplets with high degree of accuracy, until one goes into deeper realms of astrological analysis.

KP in brief :

Contrary to popular belief, both the KP technique and Vedic astrology have quite well established methods, to analyze birth charts of twins. For KP technique, the method is self-sustaining, wherein the technique is so fine-tuned that even a few minutes of birth time difference can pinpoint different results. Whereas for Vedic astrology, the Rasi chart also known as the D-1 chart, is just a primary representation of planetary configuration. In D-1, a Lagna remains in a Rasi for roughly 120 minutes, which means for twins, the two horoscopes are just the same.

Since the Indian Independence, very few path-breaking researches have happened in the realm of Indian astrology. Even though there are only very little original researches coming from different regions of India, it is only three individuals who have made an impact pan India, when it comes to original path-breaking research in astrology. The first among them is late R. Gopalakrishna Row, popularly known as ‘Meena I’, who wrote three volumes of ‘Nadi Jyotisha’ published from erstwhile Madras in 1954. Almost after another decade, the world received another path-breaking set of two books by late K.S. Krishnamurthy on an inventive method called as Krishnamurthy Paddhati (KP). The last-path breaking books appeared in 1969 from Madras by late H.R. Sheshadri Iyer, having the title of his book as ‘New Techniques of Prediction. Row’s and Iyer’s original books are now available, only with very senior astrologers and collectors of books. It is in Iyer’s book where entirely novel approaches to judge Divisional charts were provided with respect to Vedic astrology. In Krishnamurthy’s books, the very system was radically a new one.

For those readers, who are not much acquainted with the KP technique, let me explain here briefly. In KP, the only system of house-division followed is the Placidus (also called as the Semi-Arc) System of house-division. In this system of house-division, the birth or the horary chart is casted according to the precise latitude and longitude of the native or the place where the astrologer is sitting for analysis (if it is a horary chart). In the Placidus system of house division, all the 12 houses may not be of equal length (longitude). It may so happen that some houses may be more than 30° in length, whereas some houses are less than 30° in length. Moreover, it may also happen that there are two houses or bhavas in one zodiac sign and a sign which does not hold any house cusp. KP astrology interprets ‘bhava’ or house results primarily on the basis of the house cuspal sublords and the sublord’s stellar or constellational significations. And the planetary effects are determined by the planets’ occupancy in a particular star and a sub division within that star. K. S. Krishnamurthy divided each Nakshatra or star of 13 degree 20 minutes into further 9 sub-divisions based on unequal proportion of the Vimshottari Dasa system. This sub-division of a star is popularly called as ‘SUB’ in KP system. So, Sri K.S. Krishnamurti’s sub-division of a star into 9 smaller parts was made on the basis of the above unequal proportions of the Vimshottari Mahadasa. Thus, a star of 800 minutes (alternatively 13 deg 20 mins) was sub-divided into 9 unequal parts in the following manner:
Ketu sub:
(800 X 7)/120
= 46 mins 40 secs
Venus sub:
(800 X 20)/120
= 2 deg 13 mins 20 secs
Sun sub:
(800 X 6)/120
= 40 mins
Moon sub:
(800 X 10)/120
= 1 deg 6 mins 40 secs
Mars sub:
(800 X 7)/120
= 46 mins 40 secs
Rahu sub:
(800 X 18)/120
= 2 deg
Jupiter sub:
(800 X 16)/120
= 1 deg 46 mins 40 secs
Saturn sub:
(800 X 19)/120
= 2 deg 6 mins 40 secs
Mercury sub:
(800 X 17)/120
= 1 deg 43 mins 40 secs

One can easily note that Sun has the smallest arc sub-division. As we all know that the Lagna is the fastest moving parameter in the horoscope covering 30 degrees in 120 minutes. Therefore, to cross the smallest sub 40 minutes of arc of Sun, the Lagna will take approximately 2 minutes 36 seconds. This means, KP technique is capable of highlighting different birth life patterns of twins born in a time interval of 2 minutes 36 seconds. So, accuracy of birth time holds immense importance in KP.

On the other hand, contrary to popular belief, Vedic astrology is also equally capable of handling twin birth life-patterns with same ease and elan as that of KP. Many advocates of KP point out the supremacy of KP, by wrongly citing Vedic astrology’s incapability of handling twin births. Such misguided opinions are formed by them, because large majorities of such people have no formal training in Vedic astrology. So, they think that Vedic astrology is just the ‘Rasi and Navamsa charts’. The fact is that Vedic astrology is as equally capable of handling twin birth life-patterns as do KP. KP is a different method of prediction just as Parasara or Jaimini are different systems of prediction. KP as well as these Vedic systems use the same 9 planets, 12 Rasis and bhavas, and the 27 stars in the Nirayana zodiac.

The age old Magnum Opus :

Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra’ (BPHS) of Maharshi Parasara is undoubtedly the magnum opus of Vedic astrology, along with Jaimini Maharshi’s ‘Upadesha Sutram’. Now it is beyond anyone’s doubt that these two were not ordinary mortals, but highly evolved Sages. Can these two sages ignore twin-births? Definitely they cannot, because the phenomenon of twin-birth is as old as human existence. Therefore, it is but natural that they might have devised some scheme, through which twin-births can be analyzed.

The scheme advocated by the Sages and commentators of Vedic astrology to look into finer details of horoscopy is known as the ‘Varga’. Maharshi Parasara advocated the 16-Divisional horoscope scheme, derived from the Rasi chart called as the ‘Shodasa Vargas’, which is most commonly used for predictive astrology. Similarly, there are other Varga schemes known as ‘Shad Vargas’ (6 divisional chart scheme), ‘Sapta Varga’ (7 divisional chart scheme) and the ‘Dasa Varga’ (10 divisional chart scheme), which have been advocated by many others such as Kalyana Varma of Saravali, Mantreshwar of Phaladeepika, among others. These Divisional charts are 60 in number, categorized in 5 levels of consciousness or human existence. There are also Divisional charts that deal with higher realms of spiritual and esoteric factors of human life which run from the 72nd divisional chart to the 300th. However, not all numbers of these Divisional charts are used.

For those readers, who do not understand the concept of Divisional charts, let me enumerate it briefly here. A Rasi chart (D-1 or Divisional Chart 1) maps out the 9 planets in 30 degree span of each Rasi. But the exact degree occupied by a planet in a particular type of Rasi in D-1 gives rise to its mapping in other Divisional charts. So, D-2 or Hora chart is based on 15 degree mapping scheme, Navamsa (D-9) is based on 3 degree 20 minutes (30 degree of a Rasi divided by 9) mapping scheme, Siddhamsa (D-24) is based on dividing the Rasi of 30 degrees by 24. Thus, on a practical predictive level, the most granular divisional chart in the Varga scheme is the Shashtyamsa (D-60), where the Divisional chart is mapped according to 30 minutes of Rasi chart. This means that the Rasi chart of 30 degrees is made into 60 parts of 30 minutes each. The method to calculate Shashtyamsa is to multiply the degree of the planet in the Rasi chart with 2 and divide it by 12 and add 1 with the remainder. (Readers who use astrology software will find this D-60 coming as a standard output). This D-60 is thus capable of capturing life-patterns of twins, who are born at a time interval of 2 minutes. This is because the lagna takes 2 minutes to travel an arc of 30 minutes in the Zodiac. Therefore, ACCURACY OF BIRTH TIME IS AS EQUALLY IMPORTANT IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY, AS IT IS IN KP.

Understanding the astrological clues :

In KP, the rules of analysis of a horoscope are uniform and standard. They apply to individual horoscope in the same manner as they apply to twins, triplets or quadruplets. KP technique starts its analysis of a birth horoscope, by looking at the concerned house cuspal sublord. For example, if the first marriage of a person is analyzed, then in KP, one looks at the cuspal sublord of the 7th house cusp and the starlord and sublord occupied by this cuspal sub lord. These 3 planets will show their significations, which is then synthesized along with the Dasa-Bhukti-Antara to give the final prediction. It is therefore, very much likely that twins will have different cuspal sublords in majority of their house cuspal positions, thereby explaining the different life-patterns of twins.

To analyze twin horoscopes in KP technique, Here is a common-sense method:

1. First, cast the two horoscopes with Placidus house division and KP Old Ayanamsa

2. Look at the house cuspal sublords of the two horoscopes and find out those cuspal sublords, which are different. The houses, for which the cuspal sublords will be different, show the primary matters of which the life-patterns will be different.

3. Analyze each of the house cuspal sublords for the two horoscopes and check their significations. If significations vary between the two horoscopes, then there will be qualitative differences in the life-patterns pertaining to that house.

In Vedic astrology, the interpretation mechanism of Divisional charts has however remained a secret with many famous astrologers of India. It is only authors like H.R. Sheshadri Iyer who not only bared it all, but also gave out practical secrets of interpreting Divisional charts. Various ‘Gharanas’ (traditional astrology families) of India have also guarded this beautiful and highly effective technique from becoming public knowledge.

To analyze twin horoscopes with Vedic astrology, it is an open secret that:

1. One should cast the Shashtyamsa (D-60) chart and obtain the planetary configuration in that. The logic behind taking D-60 Varga chart is that this shows the cause of re-birth in this life. That is, this chart carries the potential to make sense of Karmic happenings in this life.

2. Interpret this chart with respect to a particular aspect of life in the normal manner, as one does in a Rasi chart.

3. On very rare occasion, super-imposition of the D-60 chart can be made upon the Rasi chart, when life events seem to elude explanation. Astounding results can be found in this modified approach
Case Studies :

We will now look at some case studies and interpret the twin horoscopes based on KP as well as the D-60 chart. For brevity of space, we will have the two D-60 charts of the twins and the two house cuspal tables according to KP technique for each pair of twins, along with the birth data. Readers interested for further studies can cast the full horoscopes and analyze various types of astrological facets. For all the twin data, the author wishes to thank Sri N.N. Sharma for his book Interpreting Divisional Charts: An Innovative approach through the destinies of twins published by Vani Publications, Delhi edited by Sri Deepak Bisaria and guided by Sri K.N. Rao. Sri Sharma has been very kind enough to permit me, using the birth data of twins for this article.

Case-study 1: This case belongs to twin sisters, born with 2 minutes of birth-time difference on 16th July, 1961 at 4:00pm and 4:02 pm in Lucknow, India. Sister 1A is having two sons and is a housewife and sister 1B is a working professional, having two daughters.

As one can see, there is 100% similarity in the Rasi chart of the two sisters, but the D-60 chart is totally different. Let us look into D-60, just like natal horoscope of the two sisters. Sister 1A has two sons, but Sister 1B has two daughters. In D-60 of 1A, 5th house is a male sign whereas in D-60 of 1B, the 5th house is a female sign. Why two children? The 5th lord in Rasi chart of both the sisters is Jupiter. Jupiter is in the star of Moon. This Moon in D-60 chart of both is in a dual sign with dual planet Mercury!! Similarly, in D-60 of Sister 1A, 10th lord Mercury is in the 4th house of ‘home’ aspected by the 4th lord Jupiter, showing that 1A will be a housewife. But in D-60 of 1B, 10th lord Venus is in the 2nd house of wealth and D-60 lagna is aspected by 11th lord (income) Mars from the 6th house of job. No wonder 1B is a professional.

Let us also look at the KP cuspal Tables of houses for the above two sisters, which are given below.

As one can see that many cuspal sublords are different, in this case, the 5th cusp sublord is same for both the sisters, which is Saturn. (Now, modern research on twins through KP suggests that, if the sublords are same then, we should look at the sub-sub lords). The sub-sub lord of the 5th house cusp of 1A is Rahu. Rahu is in a male sign. Rahu, being a Node will give result of its sign dispositor—Sun (Ref. Rasi chart). Sun is a male planet. For 1B, the 5th cusp sub-sub lord is Jupiter. Jupiter is in an Even (female) sign. Jupiter is in the star of Moon—a female planet.

Case-study 2: This case belongs to twin brother (2A) and his twin sister (2B) born on 11th November 1983 in Delhi with 3 minutes of time difference at 5:05 pm and 05:08 pm respectively. 2A is a school dropout, but 2B is a student of English literature.

As one can see that in the Case-study 2 also, both the Rasi charts are 100% identical. But the Shashtyamsa chart (D-60) is totally different. (Maharshi Parasara suggested that the 5th house be seen for education, but the tradition in South India is to see the 4th house). In D-60 of 2A, 5th house lord Jupiter is occupying the 8th house of education break!! Also 3rd house of ‘chesta’ (urge and motivation to do something), lord of which is Saturn in D-60 is in the 12th house of ‘giving up’. No wonder he dropped out of school. But in D-60 of 2B, 5th house is occupied by the planet of literature—Moon. Moon is aspected by the ‘milechha’ (low / outcaste) planet Rahu from the Lagna. She was destined for English literature. Moreover, 5th house lord Venus is in the 9th house of higher education. It will not be a surprise to find her doing post graduation and MPhil. Let us now look at these twins from KP technique. The cuspal tables for these twins are given below:

Readers can see that according to KP cuspal charts, for the native of Case 2 A, the 5th cusp sublord is Ketu. (In Rasi chart), Ketu is conjoined with Jupiter and Sun. Both are strong significators of 8th bhava as well as no planets are in their star. Ketu is in Mercury star. Mercury is in 8th house. 12th house lord Mars aspects this Mercury from the 5th house of education. So, he dropped-out from school. But see the divine intervention in the case of 2B, where the girl is a student of English literature. 5th cusp sublord is Venus (a planet for ‘Lalit Kala, arts). Venus is in the 5th bhava and 6th Rasi. Venus is in the star of Rahu (a ‘Milechha’ planet denoting English). Both Venus and Rahu signify the 5th, 10th and the 1st houses, showing success in education.

Case-study 3: These are twin brothers, both having their own businesses and doing well. But 3A has migrated to the USA and doing business there and 3B is in India pursuing his business. 3A has two daughters and 3B has one daughter and one son. The twins were born on 3rd Oct. 1960 at 09:00 hrs and 09:05 hours respectively in Jodhpur.

In the D-60 chart of 3A, the 4th house lord (birth place) Saturn is in the 12th to 4th (i.e. 3rd), spoiling the chances of homeland stay and is with the 10th lord of Moon of the Rasi chart (profession) and 7th lord Venus (business) of D-60 chart. (H.R.S Iyer was one of the foremost proponents of divisional chart mixing—a very innovative and effective approach). Moreover, the Lagna lord Mars (self) is in the 9th house of long distance travel. Whereas for 3B, the D-60 chart shows that Lagna lord Saturn is in the Lagna, along with the Sign-dispositor of the 4th lord (Mars), Moon. The fact that both of them do business can be seen in D-60 also (though Rasi chart is very clear on this, through the Purna Paramatamsha planets). For 3A in D-60, we can see that the 7th lord Venus is with the 10th lord Moon of Rasi chart in the 3rd house of trading. In the case of 3B, 10th lord Venus is conjoined with the 7th lord Moon in the lagna.

Let us now look at their KP cuspal tables to make sense of their life-patterns through KP technique.

The Divine indications are so clear above! Look at the 3rd cusp sublord of 3A (the one who gives courage to do a work, the origin of income) Rahu. (In Rais chart), Rahu is in the house of Sun and in the star of Venus. Sun is aspected by the only significator of the 7th house (business)—Mars; Venus is aspecting the 7th house directly. For 3B, the 3rd cusp sublord is Jupiter aspecting the 7th house and the 10th cusp sublord Moon is in the star of this Jupiter. It is very clear that they were pre-destined to become businessmen. But why is 3A doing business in USA, whereas 3B is doing business in India? Well, one needs to know how to read Divine indication. In 3A’s KP chart, the 4th cusp sublord (home/homeland) is Venus posited in the 12th bhava of foreign land/travel. Venus is in the star of Rahu. Rahu is in 10th bhava [P.Phalguni(3)] of profession/job/work in close conjunction with the 11th cusp of income. So, he settled abroad to do business. For 3B, the 4th cusp sublord is Sun, occupying the 11th bhava of income, but this Sun is in star of Moon. Moon is posited in the 4th bhava of homeland/native place. He would earn in his birth place only.

Case-study 4: These are twin brother and sister, born on 20th June, 1985 in Delhi at 9:48 am, with a birth interval of 3 minutes. The brother (4A) is a Mechanical Engineer, whereas the sister (4B) is a Commerce graduate.

In the D-60 chart of 4A, the 5th house lord Saturn is in the 10th house with the 10th house lord Moon, aspected by Rahu and the 5th house receives the aspect of Mars, a clear indication of Mechanical Engineering. But in D-60 chart of 4B, the 10th house is occupied by Mercury, the planet of Commerce.

A look into the KP cuspal tables will also throw similar light to this twin charts.

Once again, we find that both the 5th cusp sublords are Venus. This means that we will have to look at the sub-sublord. In the case of 4A, the 5th cusp sub-sub lord is the technical planet Mars. The fifth cusp is afflicted by Mars, Sun and Saturn (Rasi chart). Whereas, in the case of 4B, the 5th cusp sub-sublord is the non-technical planet Jupiter, ruling management and non-accountancy based commerce. Jupiter is aspected only by Mars and this Mars is the sub lord of Mercury, the planet governing commerce, accountancy.

Case-study 5: These are twin brothers born with a time difference of 3 minutes on 7th July, 1977 in Delhi at 11:07 am and 11:10 am respectively. The elder one is in service and is unmarried, whereas the younger brother is running his own business and married. This is quite a difference in the life-pattern, with three minutes of birth time difference!

Let us first look at the D-60 charts of these twins.

Long time back late J.N Bhasin pointed out in ‘Astro Sutras’ that Sun, Saturn and Rahu have separative influences. So, if anywhere these planets give their aspect, then that particular feature will be absent from the native’s life. Also, with regard to marriage, it is a well-established fact that the 7th and 8th houses in a chart not having any planet, bears a high potential to deny marriage. A look in the D-60 chart of 5A shows that both 7th and 8th houses are unoccupied. Saturn aspects from the Lagna the 7th house, as well as the 7th lord Mercury. Marriage is very unlikely. But in the D-60 chart of 5B, we see the most fruitful planet Moon in the 7th house, with the 11th lord Jupiter and the 4th lord Sun in the 8th. Successful marriage through members of the family is pre-destined for 5B.

Why is 5A in service? See in the D-60 of 5A. 6th lord (service) is in the 10th house of profession. Why 5B is in business? See in the D-60 of 5B, 7th lord Mars is in the 10th. Also business karaka Mercury aspects the 7th house. Is it any wonder that their life-patterns are different?

Let us also see the twins through KP cuspal tables.

Readers can easily note that in both the cuspal Tables, the 7th cusp sublord is Saturn. As I noted earlier, in such a situation, it is a prevalent KP practice to take the sub-sub lord of the particular house cusp in the case of twins. For 5A, the 7th cusp sub-sub lord is the separative planet Saturn. This Saturn is signifying bhava 1, 10 and 6 as significator. A straight case of marriage-denial. But in the case of 5B, the situation is different. Here the 7th cusp sub-sub lord is Venus. Venus is signifying the 2nd house (Rasi chart), though it also shows the 10th bhava. Venus is in the star of Sun. Now Sun is fully signifying the 7th house of marriage.

The choice of Shashtyamsa chart for analyzing twins is still a matter of modern research, though Sage Parasara has laid a lot of emphasis on this chart. Parasara considered this chart as more important than the Rasi chart. Readers are advised to read Chapter 7 of Brihat Parasara Hora Shashtra, for understanding this fact.

As far as KP is concerned, there may be instances, when a particular cuspal sublord may be same in the charts of twins. In that case, one needs to move to the cuspal sub-sub lord. Readers are advised to follow the Placidus house division with KP Old Ayanamsa values, for generating the horoscopes (All the above charts were done in this manner for this article). It is also worth remembering that in this era of Caesarian section, noting down the birth time may become another area of debate, especially when the mother is delivering more than one child. It has been found that the time of first cry provides a very reliable time of birth. This is all the more relevant in the case of twin/triplet/quadruplet births, where time-differences are very marginal, as far as pulling out from the womb is concerned, but the time of the first cry will form the major differentiating factor in analyzing life-patterns.
